Visit Application

Description

"Dive into the Data" is a collaborative interactive mapping application developed by the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission (NMISC) and RS21, a New Mexico-based data science company, designed to serve as a comprehensive one-stop resource for water planning across New Mexico communities. This visual, user-friendly tool integrates multiple datasets including Census population data, New Mexico Water Data Act information, Water Use by Categories reports from 2015 and 2020, climate change projections, groundwater basins, surface water information, and various administrative boundaries to provide a complete picture of how people and water interact throughout the state. The application features an intuitive interface with expandable categories covering basemap options, summaries by planning region, administrative areas, environmental data, climate and fire risk assessments, groundwater information, hydrology-related boundaries, population demographics, surface water data, water projects and development, and water use in agriculture. Users can explore geographic, environmental, and socioeconomic datasets through interactive maps that reveal insights about water availability, usage patterns, population distribution, and the critical interface between groundwater and surface water across different regions, making complex water planning data accessible to communities, planners, and stakeholders without requiring specialized training.
