New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute Current Projects Interactive Map

Visit Application

Description

This interactive mapping application displays the geographic distribution of active water research projects and communities participating in the Strategic Community Water Management Program across New Mexico. The map visualizes current (New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute) NM WRRI research sites using color-coded circles that indicate the number of features at each location, with larger red circles representing areas with higher concentrations of research activities (up to 13 features) and smaller circles showing fewer projects. The application includes multiple data layers showing active projects to be included in the Strategic Community Water Management Program (marked with yellow circles), current participating communities (shown with blue circles), and existing research sites located at the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute. Users can toggle between different basemap options including imagery, topographic, and street views, and access reference layers such as New Mexico Thematic-Hydrography and county boundaries. The interface provides a comprehensive view of water resources research activities throughout the state, supporting the institute's mission to address critical water problems in New Mexico and the Southwest region through coordinated research efforts across multiple universities and communities.
