NorWeST Stream Temperature Map: Stream Temperature Modeling and Future Climate Projection System

Visit Application

Description

NorWeST Stream Temperature Map - USFS RMRS is a comprehensive web-based mapping application developed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) that provides detailed stream temperature data and modeling scenarios across the western United States. This interactive tool utilizes spatial statistical stream network models at 1-kilometer resolution to display observed temperature points, historical stream data, and future climate scenarios including 2040 and 2080 projections under different Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP). The application features multiple basemap options, watershed delineation capabilities, and data extraction tools that allow users to analyze current stream temperatures alongside projected changes due to climate change. Developed as part of the Air, Water, and Aquatic Environments (AWAE) research program, this tool serves as a critical resource for watershed management, enabling forest managers, researchers, and stakeholders to assess stream temperature conditions, evaluate climate impacts on aquatic ecosystems, and make informed decisions for maintaining healthy watershed conditions in forests and grasslands across the western United States.
