Description

SnowView is a comprehensive web-based snow monitoring and visualization application developed by The University of Arizona that provides real-time and historical snow water equivalent (SWE) data across the United States. The application displays Snow Telemetry (SNOTEL) station data through interactive maps, allowing users to visualize current snow conditions with color-coded indicators showing SWE measurements in inches, from minimal snow (0.01 inches) to heavy snow accumulation (40+ inches). Users can access multiple data layers including UA SWE (University of Arizona Snow Water Equivalent), UA SWE Anomaly, UA SWE Percentile, SNODAS SWE (Snow Data Assimilation System Snow Water Equivalent), Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (IMS) Cover, and various precipitation outlooks. The platform offers customizable basemaps (imagery, topographic, streets, terrain), weather forecasting outlooks including Quantitative Precipitation Forecast (QPF) for multiple time periods, temperature outlooks, and specialized products like Monthly Drought Outlook and Seasonal Drought Outlook. Additional features include vector data overlays for watersheds, SNOTEL stations, stream gauges, and roads/borders, along with dual-panel comparison capabilities and synchronized mapping extents for comprehensive snow condition analysis and water resource management.
