Depth to Water Contour Data

This dataset comprises depth-to-water contour maps for six major aquifer systems in southeastern New Mexico, including the Southern High Plains Aquifer, Capitan Reef Complex, Permian Aquifer, Pecos Valley Alluvial Aquifer, etc. The geospatial data, provided in GeoJSON format by the New Mexico Bureau of Geology's Aquifer Mapping Program, represents contour lines of equal groundwater depth derived from comprehensive depth-to-water measurements collected from multiple monitoring sources across the region. Through advanced interpolation techniques, these point measurements were processed into three-dimensional surfaces and subsequently converted into standardized contour features that illustrate the spatial distribution of groundwater levels beneath the surface. This dataset serves as a critical resource for understanding regional groundwater conditions, aquifer characteristics, and water table variations across the Pecos Slope and Southern High Plains hydrogeological regions, supporting water resource management, environmental monitoring, and hydrological research in New Mexico's water-scarce southeastern counties.
